Thanks for listening! That's a Wrap!
While I'll never have the connection you have to Blazing Saddles (my first and most impactful Mel Brooks was Young Frankenstein), I loved listening to you guys talk about it. I have friends (lady friends at that) who rate it very highly, and we watched it not too long ago, and you're absolutely right that it's a comedy classic. My lack of familiarity with it means there are lots of laughs I forget were in there from one viewing to the next.
ReplyDeleteAs for westerns as a genre, I must say I'm a bit of a fan, but almost only when they're "revisionist" in tone. That does include Leone, but also Pekinpah, and a lot of latter-day stuff. The first western I fell in love with, however, was Tombstone.
I love Tombstone too, Siskoid. My college roommate played the VHS OVER and OVER upon it's initial release. My first "real" western I fell in love with was The Outlaw Josey Wales, still my personal favorite Eastwood film.

Still haven't seen it! I think I better put it on the fast track.
